Weird and trash

From the “oh, the weird things you see working at home” files.

Some possibly older guy in a silver Buicky type car just pulled up across the street blocking the alley there and took a picture of something in our yard/s or house/s with a digital camera, and wrote something on a clipboard and drove away. I noticed because he pulled up along the far alley facing traffic the wrong way and the movement caught my eye. Then he rolled down the window, set up a shot, and drove away before I could go outside to see what his deal was.

I was debating with my neighbor that he was possibly doing any or all of the below:

- photographing the trash on our curb which I noticed when I walked out (and cleaned up; sadly, trash on our curb reappears about once every two hours and it is impossible to keep things totally clean all the time out there)

- photographing our car which does not yet have DC tags (we have that on the list of things to do) so he can report us to somewhere for not getting DC tags the minute we got to town

- photographing our fine yardwork and tire planters and the neighbors’ lovely tree

- casing our house/s in a very conspicuous and note-taking manner.

I thought it would be funny if we ended up on somebody’s Shame of Petworth blog because we had a bottle and a wrapper out on our curb, considering that I have been taking great pains to make our yard look nice and have called the city but nobody seems to care about the ginormo bin of overflowing trash that has been sitting in the alley outside our yard since before we moved in. It is heavy and I guess abandoned (the house it supposedly belongs to is way over on the other side of the block and no way am I going to try to lug it over there) but nobody wants to empty or deal with it. Except to lazily throw more trash at it.

Also, there is a Shopping Cart o’ Trash I have been watching all week (it was in the mouth of the alley next to the neighbor’s house across the street, but is now moved to near the back of his house). I am waiting/hoping the pickup tomorrow takes care of these things but we will see. Stay tuned!
