a barrel of this: house Our House

Slow going

Well, the house-related excitement of the weekend consisted of scrubbing the floor and wall tile in the bathroom (with vinegar water), drying it off, and then tediously painting over all the grout lines with grout sealer. The good thing is that our grout is now sealed. The bad thing is that it took forever, was so tedious Matt opted to do dishes instead of sealing grout, and I think I ruined one of my watercolor brushes in the process. No pictures, because sealed grout is about as exciting as unsealed grout.

Oh well, sealed grout is a good thing, overall. Also, our bathroom is now very clean and the floor is not doing that creepy water spotting thing it was doing (I guess there was some gunk from installation still on there, even though we swept and mopped it). The guy at Morris tile was totally right when he said some vinegar cleaning would take care of it!

I also managed to get some more plants for the tire planters, and now have a medley of liriope, cranesbill, dwarf mondo grass, lady’s mantle, and pulmonaria in there. Hopefully the one hunk of lily turf won’t hate me too much for uprooting and moving it, and the lady’s mantle will actually live (I have my doubts about that).

Trash has been exciting…the shopping cart is gone (I saw it a block away, so it is slowly working its way back to the Safeway, maybe) and the 727 number told me that our Enormobin of Gross is due to be dealt with this week. We will see.

Even more exciting is that we are getting our sink and countertops on Friday. I just have to cajole the contractor to get in here tomorrow or Wednesday to set things up for them. This is possibly easier said than done, but I am willing to throw fits, something I have not done yet and only plan to do in case of emergency, which this might be. I told him I wanted nothing to hold up this kitchen finishing because it is killing us slowly to not have a sink, and he has been kind of ignoring us for a long time now, so it is time to deal. Because this means we will be one step closer to having a working kitchen (then we just need to get the plumber out and we are going to be set)! He promised to come out so we will see (he also promised a lot of things over the last few weeks that have not happened, so I am not sure what to think. I am willing to let not-urgent stuff slide, but this is kind of important, so, like I said, fits).

Also: dear Asian Tiger Mosquitoes, I hate you.
